This sensitive refurbishment and barn conversion project was commissioned by private clients seeking to enhance and extend their Grade II listed farmhouse while preserving its historic integrity. Delivered in two carefully managed phases, the project required a considered approach to conservation, traditional craftsmanship and close collaboration with all parties involved.

360 Living were appointed to undertake the refurbishment of the existing farmhouse, with works focused on enhancing the finishes and functionality while carefully retaining and respecting the building’s original features and historic fabric. Traditional materials and detailing were used throughout, reflecting a carefully considered approach that preserves the farmhouse’s heritage while supporting modern living.

The second phase focused on the conversion of the existing barn and its seamless connection to the main residence. The barn was transformed into high-quality living accommodation designed around the clients’ love of entertaining, incorporating a generous living and dining space, bar and wine store, supplementary kitchen, boot room and a master suite. Throughout the conversion, the original timber frame, constructed using traditional mortice and tenon joints, was carefully retained and celebrated, with new interventions detailed to sit comfortably alongside the historic structure. Crittall-style steel-framed glazing and generous areas of glass were introduced throughout the home and barn to bring daylight deep into the heart of the building. Delivered in close consultation with the conservation officer, all design decisions respected the building’s listed status.

A number of bespoke elements were introduced as part of Phase Two, including handcrafted panelling made on site by our in-house team, carefully integrated to complement the character of the barn. A key bespoke feature within this space is a handmade oak bar crafted by our in-house craftsman, reflecting the breadth of 360 Living’s in-house capabilities and hands-on approach to bespoke detail.

The completed property is a stunning, characterful home, where bespoke craftsmanship and attention to detail sit naturally alongside the building’s historic fabric. The barn conversion in particular delivers a striking and welcoming new space for entertaining, seamlessly blending heritage character with contemporary comfort.
